Varieties:
The mintmark on this date
is sometimes seen punched over a prior "S". This variety
is scarce in Mint State and none have been graded by PCGS in Gem condition
or as a Prooflike or Deep Mirror Prooflike.
Notes:
The 1882-O Morgan Silver Dollar is common in Uncirculated condition
but becomes scarce in Gem
condition. Prooflikes and Deep Mirror Prooflikes are scarce, but
available. The most common Uncirculated grade is
MS-63, followed by MS-64. The finest examples
certified by PCGS are a single MS-68, a single MS-66 Prooflike, and a
single MS-66 Deep
Mirror Prooflike.
The finest "O/S" examples graded by PCGS are 138 MS-64's.
The finest "O/S Weak" examples graded by PCGS are 17 MS-64's.
