Reed collection. Numerous small marks are a feature of the obverse,
although this is tempered somewhat by ample luster. Also, it should be
pointed out the devices are boldly struck. The reverse is much choicer,
and again, has an excellent strike." Price realized - $5,635.00

Notes:
"The
mint changed to the capped bust left of Liberty in 1821, with a minor
change to reduced size planchets in 1829-34. The head and eagle were by
Robert Scot. Mintage, which was low throughout the period, came to a mere
4,400 pieces in 1832, hardly worth the effort to produce. Compare to the
more than 157,000 total for the 1832 Half Eagle, the preferred
denomination in those days for export purposes."
