"Similar to 1896 except, of
course, the 1897-S is not as rare as the 1896-S. The 1897-O has long been a
favorite date of Barber collectors and its R6 [Very Rare] ranking justifies
this. Fortunately, this coin comes with such nice surfaces that eight have
been graded MS 66 (though we suspect some of these are duplicate
submissions)."1
The finest Uncirculated examples graded
