1839 LARGE CENT - NEWCOMB 1
Rarity: Scarce
Variety Equivalents: Breen 1870
Notes:This has been called the "1839/6" variety, although the
overdate is questionable. The obverse die was leftover from an
earlier year, as the plain hair cords seen on this die were discontinued
in 1837.
This reverse die of this variety was also used on 1839
Newcomb
4 and 1839 Newcomb 9.
