This variety was discovered circa 1914 but was overlooked by Newcomb and re-discovered by Walter Breen in 1952.

No Proofs are known of this variety.

This obverse die of this variety was also used on 1835 Newcomb 3, 1835 Newcomb 4, and 1835 Newcomb 10.

The reverse die of this variety was also used on 1835 Newcomb 12, then later on 1831 Newcomb 2 and 1835 Newcomb 13.
