"Newcomb-3, Rarity-1…A minute nick on the bridge of the nose,
others on the chin and jaw, otherwise nearly free from post striking
defects. Dark chocolate brown with faint light steel blue overtones
and traces of mint red around many devices, mostly on the reverse. Ex:
Bowers and Merena 1/95:2361; Walter Husak; Superior Stamp & Coin
6/98:354.", sold for $632.00
Notes:
No Proofs are known of this variety. In 1992, Wright noted:
"There are no Proofs from these dies, but one of the better MS
coins (French-Clarke) has been repeatedly auctioned as a Proof."
