Superior "Pre-Long Beach Sale", 06/2000:152, where it was described as
follows:
"1797 S-130 R2 AU50 Double Profile Glossy steel brown and chocolate with
some slightly darker olive brown toning on the reverse. A few microscopic marks
at OF are the only notable signs of contact, and they are trivial. Sharply
struck very early die state (VEDS), but the obverse is struck slightly off
center to K-3, the reverse to K-5. In addition, there is a very fine double
profile from the forehead down to the chin. Graded Mint State-60 by Del Bland
and tied for CC#1 in his census, EF45 by Bill Noyes and tied for CC#5. Either
way this is an important and very attractive cent. This is the Noyes plate coin.
Ex George Pappas 11/19/49-C. Douglas Smith-Dr. Robert A. Schuman."
