Notes:
The first coin struck of this new type was presented by President Theodore Roosevelt not to the designer but to Mr. Bigelow.  Bigelow was a friend of the President who may have proposed the idea of an incuse design.  He was also instrumental in engaging Bela Lyon Pratt to execute the designs.  Ron Guth examined the first strike coin and the accompanying documentation circa May 2000; the coin was a lightly worn example that showed no Proof qualities whatsoever.

The finest Uncirculated example graded by PCGS is a single MS-67.
