Notes:

"1897-S is another seemingly rare date that must have been saved by the early dealers. This coin is even tougher to find in AU and low mint state grades than the 1897-O. It differs from the 1897-O in having a better strike."1

The finest examples graded by PCGS are 2 MS-67's.
