1783 WASHINGTON - SMALL MILITARY BUST

Recent appearances:
"Choice Uncirculated" (illustrated above). Ex - Early American History
Auctions, Inc.'s Mail Bid Sale, October 14, 2000, Lot 1027, where it was
described as follows: "Engrailed Edge, Baker 4-B...120.2 grains.
One of the Finest Known! An amazing example of this variety, with one of
the most detailed strikes we’ve ever seen, even to the point of fully
raised (and even partial wire) rims on both sides. Every bit of detail
is evident, down to the tiniest hair and die crack, clashmarks and die
work. Simply put, this is the most impressive example we’ve ever seen
and yes, we have seen a few! One interesting aspect of this coin is the
engrailing on the edge which waves from side to side, probably due to
the unusual thickness of the planchet."
PCGS AU-50. Ex - Superior Stamp
& Coin's "The ANA 2000 National Money Show Auction", March
2-3, 2000, Lot 42. "Breen 1202...Sharp EDS without any die
cracks."
