Notes:
A cast counterfeit appeared in the Stack's "Spence" sale
where it was mis-attributed as a Nelson-8.
This coin is now in the Dr. Nelson collection at Colonial Williamsburg.
Recent appearances:
"MS-63 Brown" (illustrated below). Ex - Superior Galleries New York ANA Sale, August 1-3,
2002, Lot 45, illustrated, where it was described as follows: "1760
Voce Populi Halfpenny. Nelson-15 Rarity-4. Mint State 63 Brown. Chocolate
brown with some underlying lighter brown toning in protected areas. No
spots or other marks, but the surfaces are a bit dull from years of
gentle oxidation. A proper brushing is all that's needed to bring out
the underlying mint luster. Sharply struck and very attractive. An
excellent example of this very scarce die variety."
