Recent appearances:
"VF-30, repaired" (illustrated
above). Ex - Early American History Auctions, Inc. Mail Bid Sale,
August 24, 2002, Lot 882, where it was described as follows: "1652
Oak Tree Threepence, Noe-27, Repaired, Very Fine-30. Rarity-6. 79 grains.
A pleasing example of this extremely rare Noe-27 variety. Nice in detail
for the grade with one extremely well executed expert repair made to a
small nail hole at top, above the Oak Tree. The coin remains a pleasing
light silvery-gray in color with slightly deeper tone to the recessed
areas adding to the overall eye appeal. (Current 2002 Guidebook value in
VF-20 lists at $3,900.) A variety missing from most collections of
Massachusetts silver and easily worth our estimate range."
