Recent appearances:
PCGS EF-45 (illustrated above).  Ex - Paul Arthur Norris- Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc.'s "Pre-Long Beach Sale", September 23 & 24, 2002, Lot 4, illustrated, where it was incorrectly attributed as a Noe 20 and described as follows: "Antique silvery gray in color with the familiar "S" shaped bend from the rocker press on which they were struck, on this particular one the crease is through the lower left of the obverse. The planchet is slightly elongated being taller than it is wide. Well struck and with very nice surfaces for the issue. One thin line is noted on the upper right of the tree and this may be remnants of an undertype or possibly a minor split in the planchet.
The source of the silver for these early coins was Spanish coinage, which had enriched Spain for several generations. The Spanish silver was melted down and purified up to acceptable levels for sterling, then rolled into strips for planchets..." - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. "The Benson Collection, Part III", February 24-25, 2003, Lot 2, illustrated, sold for $4,025.00

PCGS VF-25.  Ex - Superior Galleries New York ANA Sale, August 1-3, 2002, Lot 4, illustrated

PCGS VF-20.  Superior Galleries' "Pre-Long Beach" Sale, October 1-3, 2000, Lot 1001, where it was described as follows: "Noe-22 Rarity-6 PCGS VF20. Glossy dark gray with silvery gray in protected areas of the reverse. The strike is uneven causing portions of the legend to be very weak, including the corrected first S in MASACHUSETS, but the S is visible. Late die state with severe die failure on the right side of the oak tree leaving internal cud breaks in that area and weakness on the opposing portion of the reverse at NEW. Weight listed as 34.1 grains on the PCGS label. A decent example of this rare variety and a neat die state to boot." - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. "The George Mouhtouris Collection", October 1-2, 2001, Lot 5, illustrated
