Ex - Early American
Numismatics, Inc., Mail Bid Sale April 21, 2001, Lot 1022, where it was described as
follows: "1652 MA "Oak Tree" Shilling,
Noe 13, Fine. 48.9 grains. Rarity 6 (Very Rare). This piece
is nice, round and flat, but the low weight indicates that the edges
have been clipped at some time in the past. The Oak Tree is quite bold,
but some of the legends are weak. Similarly, the date and denomination
are strong, while the peripheral areas are soft. Both sides have toned
to an even, medium gray color that is quite attractive. The low weight
will make this an affordable example of this rare variety, which we have
not had the pleasure of offering since 1997."
