PCGS AU-50 (illustrated above).  Ex - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc.'s "Benson Collection, Part I", February 16, 2001, Lot 58 at $2,875.00, where it was unattributed and described as follows: "1785 Connecticut Copper. African head. PCGS graded AU-50. An extremely rare coin in high grade, this one is one of two graded as such by PCGS, with none graded higher. Below that only 2 have been graded in EF-40. Certainly a prize for the specialist. The surfaces are slightly rough under magnification, and the coin is toned a medium light brown. One spot on each side of the obverse, both old and not too distracting."
