Notes:
"This
is the first year of the Denver Mint and a healthy four million dimes were
produced there. Overall, more than 29.7 million were produced by the four
Mints. Still, two of the issues - 1906-D & S - are fairly scarce. The
1906-D, in particular, is unexpectedly so. Its mintage is high, and as the
first year of the Mint, one would have expected more coins to have been
saved. Instead, the coins went right into circulation and this issue is
fairly common in most circulated grades."
"It is interesting to know that
despite the substantial mintages of the branch mints, very few nice
certified AU pieces are available. Putting together a set of certified
"sliders" is an almost impossible chore."
"Surprisingly, the 1906-D comes
indifferently at best."1
