Notes:
"This is a good year for Barber halves. Mintage of all three dates is fairly low and none of the coins has a Rarity Rating less than R3 [Scarce].

1896-S has moved up in rarity from R4 [Very Scarce] in the last edition (1991). This coin comes nice, as evidenced by the five coins graded MS 66. However, like some other S-mints, it sometimes will have planchet striations (due to worn out roller fingers during planchet stock preparation)."

The finest examples graded by PCGS are 6 MS-66's.
